All the plants and animals in a habitat are part of a food web. Small plants and animals called phytoplankton and zooplankton and small insects provide food to the fish and birds at the top of the food chain. |

We used a hand lens to look at a sample of water. When we found an animal, we used an eyedropper to get the animal on a slide to see it under a microscope. |

We moved the animals to the large microscope. We could see brine shrimp and water boatman on the screen. |
